How to Select a UK Car Rental Service

If you're planning to vacation in the United Kingdom, but don't know anyone who lives there, using the services of a UK care rental company isn't always necessary. The United Kingdom has an extensive public transportation system, including taxis, trains, and subways; however, if you plan to travel outside of the city or if you wish to carry a lot with you, you may want to solicit the services of such a UK car hire service.

There are six large UK car hire companies you will be able to choose from. Hertz and Avis, which are both massive, American-based businesses, have expanded into continental Europe and the UK. Avis offers cars at London-Heathrow, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Luton, and Stansted. If you hire a compact, economy car for one week from such a location, it will only cost you around 99 euros for the entire week. Hertz also now operates out of most large airports, including London-Heathrow; and has fairly similar rates. Hertz offers a number of perks with their UK car hire service, including the option to have a chauffeur-driven car and cars with roadside assistance programs, which will allow you to get directions if you are lost and get assistance if you breakdown.

National and Europcar are two more of your viable choices for UK car hire. If you still have enough time to make arrangements before you leave for your trip, National may be your best option, as they will give you a 20% discount simply for renting your car online. Europcar also offers some interesting perks, as well as relatively low UK car hire rates.

Whichever UK car hire service you use, make sure you contact the rental company before you leave for the airport to ensure that the model you wish to drive is in stock – and that the price is reasonable.
